I used to have a Garmin Legend, replaced it with a Garmin Vista C and finally with this unit. It is really a great design and provides outstanding functionality. I use it for geocaching and traveling around the US on business. Strange cities are not a problem - the City Select software is quite up to date and if you install a 2GB Micro SD chip, you can load the entire US and Canada map database into the unit - No more loading grids!!! The accuracy of the handheld is frequently in the single digits which is amazing considering overhead trees and obstructions. I fully recommend this unit even for people who do not geocache (You should really try it!!!) I love the transportability as I use it in airplanes (yeah - it works great in planes) and rental cars! This is probably one of the best traveling companions a person could ask for! Get the travel accesory kit from Garmin. It contains a beanbag car mount, 12 volt power cord and the City Select mapping software. If you want GPS, this is the one to get! (no annoying voice either - just selectable beeps and sounds).

This new model Garmin GPS has incredible reception. It picks up satellites even inside my house. Display is nice and the buttons are easy to use. Only downside is that the layers of menus are sometimes hard to find the exact feature you are looking for. Still a great unit for the price.

This was a gift for my husband ... originally torn between car GPS and this. Ended up making the right decision ... takes a bit longer to get into with loading the maps and all than a car GPS which already come pre-loaded, but after a short learning curve, he loves it and has used it for hiking, fishing AND driving. Can't ask for a more well rounded GPS. Be careful in purchase of friction mount ... they are a different size for these hand-held GPS. Great price and quick delivery!

I'd give the GPSMAP-60 CSX five stars for ease of use (especially after taking an REI outdoor course in its use prior to the purchase) and its capabilies. Great for Geocaching or plotting a route of where you have been---can be very useful if you want to make an accurate map, or just to return.
Probably not too useful for navigation in a moving auto. Get the on-dash versions for that job.
I'm new at GPS so I'd get another recommendation or two, but as my first experience with a hand-held, I'm very satisfied. Overstock's sales are driving everyone's prices down too--good!

It came really quick, I just had troble with fedex delivering it at bad times. Best price around at least 100 dollars cheaper then everywhere else.

I really like the Garmin gps and I would recommend it to anyone. The book is a bit thick but it does explain it every well and It has come in handy. The screen is very clear and just the right size to carry. The unit is light enough to carry all day and not be a bother.
