Garmin GPSMAP 78sc Reviews

The Garmin GPSMAP 78sc got a 5 star review from this user who owned this product.

“I’ve owned several handheld GPS over the years. This thing finds satellite’s and locks in about 10 seconds……in my house. My other handheld which was also a garmin would only find satellites outside only on a clear day when no trees were within sight. OK I’m exagerating. There could be one or two trees near but not too near. This 78sc sreen is awesome also. You can see it from any angle, in the sun, with sunglasses on. I LOVE THIS THING. It’s simple to use. I’d buy it again. If anyone gives negative feedback on this thing they are in need of help. Serious help.” Russell L. Watts “Vocals” (Livingston, La. USA)

The Garmin GPSMAP 78sc got a 3 star review from this user who owned this product.

“I got my Garmin 78sc a couple of weeks ago, to use not only on the water (Chesapeake Bay), but for hiking and geocaching. By now I’ve sailed for 3 days,(about 15 hours total run-time), and the alkaline batteries are about half gone according to the meter, so I’m fairly satisfied with the battery life. I haven’t tried NiMH rechargeables yet.

I was concerned the unit was going to be huge (it’s intentionally large to give internal air space for water flotation ability), but it’s not too big or heavy. It was smaller than I was expecting it to be. Also, having the buttons on top of the screen are a little weird, but it’s not a big issue in use. It’s very fast in finding the satellites and switching display screens, etc. The built in electronic compass (multi-axis)calibrates quickly, and reacts quickly to movement, but seems very accurate.” M. Keough

“compared to my Furuno #1724C-it’s so easy to use! Adding waypoints is so easy. I set it up in my office and added all the waypoints (had AC-DC converter). The Perspective 3D mode is fantastic. having not used the Garmin 546 – I can’t wait till spring comes to use it. Oh-I plugged it into my Ford truck cigarette lighter and used it.For now – I think it’s great!” Bruce Durrenberber Brick NJ
